Rain four Rams nil
There was only one winner on Saturday and that was the weather as all four Sawston and Babraham were either cancelled on abandoned. This was always going to be the case once some meteorologist had forecast possibly one of the hottest and longest summers!
In the abandoned games Ralph Haywood hit his second league half-century of the season but was left unbeaten on fifty-four when the game was finally stopped. There was also another fifty for Vibhor Yadav, in the second team game at Southill Park, before the game succumbed to the elements after about half a dozen interuptions.
There was some positive cricket news from our Junior players as they got games in for there Cambridgeshire age-group sides. Ethan Hayes-Fernandez added another fifty (off 43 balls) to his collection as he retired not out in a T20 against Suffolk. Etienne Lamb (58) and Dhrona (31) were prominent as Cambridgeshire lost narrowly to first class county Middlesex. Gabi Harter (2-29) and Dhrona (2-49) picked up braces.
On Sunday the third team failed to make history as they had to concede their Invitation Cup debut away to Girton; this competition was being played in the Hundred format for the first time in its very long history.
