sawston cricket club…

…formed in 1853, merged with Sawston Spike in 1989. The Club merged again in 2015 with Babraham CC (formed 1850) to become Sawston and Babraham Cricket Club. The Club plays its Saturday cricket in The East Anglian Premier League, The Cambs and Hunts Premier League and within the Cambridgeshire Cricket Association leagues. It also plays midweek cricket in the Adams Harrison league.

The First XI has enjoyed significant recent success, winning the league title in four of the last five seasons (2021, 2022, 2024 & 2025).

The Club enjoys a fantastic ground and excellent facilities at its HQ in the centre of Sawston, and a picturesque parkland ground in Babraham. We have hosted the Cambridgeshire cricket finals in the past few years, as well as hosting Minor Counties games.

The Club is a Community Amateur Sports Club and is a not for profit organisation that works hard to deliver a financial surplus to reinvest into ‘cricket for all’ in the villages. To do this it relies heavily on its players and a dedicated team of volunteers and its sponsors.

Through our mergers and work with the wider community and with our sponsors and supporters we have learned that, as in cricket, good partnerships are important and that it is vital that both partners meet their objectives. We only win if we both win! Whilst cricket is a traditional game, and we savour and respect our past, we are a forward looking organisation that is also willing to try something new to improve our Club, its image and its standing and that of our partners.
